Once more, with feeling...

OK folks, mea culpa for not posting in a while, it's not that life hasen't been a joy to behold, but I've been on Facebook. I am not proud of this fact, but there you have it. I need to keep in touch with people I haven't seen in 20 years. I don't understand that.
In other news, I may have decided to go back to KRF. I'll be getting the Hose, but it's better than being here in Sept. Lookin for crash space for me and 2 cats Sept- Oct. Anyone in that area wanna adopt a pickleman?

Best Swing song...ever!

Ok while on a drunken rampage thru Frenchman street tonight (Boubon is for beginners) I ran into a great band playing on the street, then wandered into the Apple BArrel. OK not Into, but outside, and started swing dancing to music not normaly associated with swing. This brought up the GREATEST swing song ever. Only i could not remember the name. But now i have it, and share it with you:

now grab your cats and drop yer hats...

rumors of my death have been exaturated...

in other words, I haven't posted here in a while. Sorry. Been caught up in the wacky brain eatingness of Facebook.I prefer the more long form method of communication used here over the Twitter-esque communiques that fly thru FB every few minutes. On the other hand, not much has happened.
Friends came over for a few days, music was listened too, Jazzfest is turning the 1/4 into retardville, I'm working for a tour company, pantsless Monday, studying to become a tour guide, playing the uke, started City Of Heros again, and general bar-hopping was done.
OK a little has happened. But this is not why i post- if you want to listen to the inanities of my life, follow me on FB. Here i want to talk Wide Ideas, Big Things, coffee shop bullshit. You know- fun stuff.
Was at a bar a few days ago (quel suprise!) and got into a discussion about religion vs philosophy. What's the difference? I find most folk who claim to be anti-religous (vs athiest or agnostic) are really anti- Christian, or at least anti-Big 3 (Christians, Jews, Muslims). They will lump religions that don't piss them off into the pen of "Philosophies", the most common example of this being Buddhism. This clears the way for them to rail on about "Organized religion", when they really mean to say "Conservative Christian buttwipes". If you want to take on religion and use CC for the example, it's low hanging fruit. CC from the outside is kinda wacky, and easy to mock. If you really want to take the "religion sucks" aspect, take on a religion that you have sympathy for. That's a harder game to play, and you may find something out about yourself, or your mindset.
Now, far be it from me to defend religion. I'm about as athiest as you can get, but I don't like this dichotomy. If you say you don't like religion, that must include ALL religions. If you don't like a certain religion, or religions, say so, don't mince words.
In my mind the difference between religion and philosophy is simple- one has a supernatural aspect to it, the other does not. This is a definition "in progree" tho, so if anyone can add, subtract or comment on this I'd be thankful.

Thanks, Garrison...

Listening to The Writer's Almanac by Garrison Keilor. So today marks the anniversery of the assassination of Lincon and the Sinking of the Titanic. Way to bum me out, Mr. Keilor. Now I'm gonna go drink Drain-o and root for the Padres...

Ok, first thing I do in the mo non is listen to Garrison Keilor's Writer's Almanac.
"The opposite of love is not hate, it is indifference."

It was all a bee-youtiful dream...

Just dreamed that i won a radio-call in show. The prize was $50, a chrome switchblade and a backstage pass to Tom Waits. The bad news is this was the best dream I've had in a while...

No Pants Monday is the monniker i give today. This is because I work the phones all day at home answering phones, and because I'm home, pants are optional. This is a great way to work, unless you wander home drunk at 3am, and the first phone call is at 8.am. yeeeeeeesh. I get to be professional while confused and hungover...

Quakers don't know dick about grits...

Tea, work, no pants Monday, and grits fo brekfast- what could be better? Well, having a company that makes good grits would be one. See Winn-Dixie makes decent instant grits. They come out OK all the time- Water+ grits+ peanut butter (Don't judge me) = nummy breakfast. So last week I go all high class and buy Quaker grits. same idea but now the grits are simultaneously burned, slimy, chunky and smooth. Bah.
